Parental care
While parenting often deals with parental functioning, around a focused difficulty. Parenting therapy is a more in-depth process which is designed to give space for observation, emotional processing and expanding the awareness of the parent as a person and his connection to his child on his various characteristics.
Many times, when a parent experiences distress or difficulty in parenting, this is due to feelings or internal conflicts as a result of past experiences, patterns in the family of origin and interpersonal aspects related to relationships and family interactions. This type of treatment requires maturity and commitment on the part of the parents to bring themselves and their inner world in order to raise awareness of the complex relationship between the different places that the person brings with him to parenthood and which affects his parental function and the relationships in the family. Many times the child expresses a symptom that reflects a difficulty in the family dynamic and originates in the patterns of the parent. In such a situation, the significant change will occur as a result of therapeutic work with the parents and not necessarily with the child.
